2019 Member-Guest Invitational

Dear Fellow Westborough Member,
 
On behalf of the Member-Guest Invitational Committee including Sean Brennan, David Cassat and Blake Swearingen, I would like to invite you to participate in Westborough’s 15th Annual Member–Guest Invitational to be held Thursday, June 13 through Saturday, June 15.  The registration process will again include a Play-In event to be held on Saturday, April 13, with the Drawing Reception to be held immediately upon completion of play.  Registration is now open and will be held through March 31; please complete and sign the attached entry form and deliver to the golf pro shop during the registration period if you are interested in participating (the Member-Guest will be limited to 60 teams; please refer to the attached document for a summary of the registration and selection procedures).
 
The Member–Guest will again be among the premier events of the year and will include the following: 
  • 2 days of golf (45 holes) including carts for you and your guest
  • Optional practice round on Thursday (carts additional)
  • “Beat 60” tournament during Thursday practice round ($20 per team entry)
  • Par 3 nine-hole shamble Thursday afternoon ($40 per team entry)
  • Putting contest with opportunity for one participant to win $5,000 ($10 per player)
  • Contestant’s Calcutta reception Thursday evening with open call bar and appetizers
  • Lunch and continental breakfast for contestants on both Friday and Saturday
  • Saturday evening awards dinner highlighting the very best of culinary offerings, wine and drink specials, with a live band throughout the evening
  • All beverages on the course (contestants only)
  • Premium gifts for all participants
  • Opportunity to win a luxury automobile with a hole–in–one
  • Awards presented to all Flight winners and the Member–Guest champions
 
The format of the Invitational will be two man best ball, match play with teams flighted by handicap.  Five nine-hole matches will be played within each flight with a shootout to be held at the conclusion of the fifth round.  All flight winners and qualifying flight runners up will compete in the shootout to determine the overall champions.  All members and guests must have an official USGA handicap (no exceptions).  In the event of rain, winners will be determined by the number of rounds completed.  There will be no refunds in the event of inclement weather and the Saturday evening dinner will be held as scheduled.  For those participants wishing to place a wager on the competition, all teams will be auctioned off to the highest bidders as part of a Calcutta auction to be held on Thursday evening during the contestant’s reception.
 
The entry fee of $1,000 (per each two man team) will be charged to member participants through a non-refundable deposit of $500 on April 30, 2019, with the remaining $500 to be charged on May 31, 2019.  Please also contact Lindsey Reichelt in the Club office if you would like to help support this year’s event by being a hole sponsor.  Feel free to contact Jimmy Bals or any committee members with any questions you may have.
